Tesla is preparing to show off with its new autonomous vehicle. The long-awaited Robotaxi prototype has finally been spotted, albeit in a camouflaged form. Although the vehicle is completely covered in yellow foil, there are design details that do not escape the eye. The vehicle, which appears to be smaller than the Tesla Model Y at first glance, may become the standard for autonomous taxis in the future.

The design of the Robotaxi is quite simple and fluid. A flat front face and a rear-sloping windshield reveal the vehicle’s aerodynamic structure. At the rear, the full-length rear light design, which we also saw on the Tesla Cybertruck , draws attention. This design suggests that Tesla will use this type of visual language in its future models.
One of the most interesting details is the slight protrusion on the roof of the vehicle. This protrusion could be a LiDAR sensor. Tesla has previously argued that LiDAR technology is unnecessary for autonomous driving. However, the presence of LiDAR in this vehicle indicates that Tesla may be making a change in its autonomous driving technology strategy. Of course, this is not yet definitive information, but it does arouse great curiosity.
The official launch of Robotaxi is expected to take place on October 10, 2024. It is also said that this vehicle is built on Tesla’s affordable Model 2 platform and will be released for under $30,000. If this happens, Tesla could make a name for itself in the autonomous vehicle market.
